War Eagle!

Last Tuesday night, Hannah, Grandma (my mom), Uncle Zach and I headed down to Auburn to watch the men's basketball team compete in the semi-final game of the NIT. Auburn played a great game against Baylor but wasn't able to make the 3 point shot in the final seconds to win the game... Very sad BUT we still had a fantastic time!
Trying to get a smile out of her for a picture is a huge undertaking these days. I mostly get the back of her head so these are actually not too bad...

Fake smile...every toddler has one!
She was getting really into it and cheering loud!
Theres the back of the head like I mentioned before...Whoa! Theres a smile! I think the popcorn may have been her favorite part of the evening!

And hes mobile...

I can't believe my baby is now crawling!!!! I also can't believe he skipped the whole scooting phase all together! He loved sitting up and somehow could make his way to the other side of the room on his bum...but he could not/would not scoot on his tummy! When Hannah was his age she scooted everywhere, kind of like the army crawl. As you can see in the video he is still pretty slow and shaky but crawling all the same.
I feel happy, sad and nervous all at the same time. I'm happy because it is so fun to watch your children grow and discover new things. I'm sad because come on, he is my "baby"!!!! I'm nervous because William just opened up a whole new can of worms.... No more leaving him on the blanket to play while I take a shower or fix dinner. He is officially all over the place! Lord, help me! ;)

A few Christmas Pictures

I know, I know...its March! We had such a great Christmas though! Plus, I'm trying to spread a little Christmas cheer throughout the year! :)

Christmas was a blast this year! Hannah was so into everything! She loved her nativity set and the decorations and even the stories about why we really celebrate Christmas. She loved Santa Claus...that is, until we paid him a visit...
Oh well!
I really enjoyed Christmas this year because we were really able to establish some of our own family traditions. Hannah got to hang up her stocking Christmas Eve and she baked Santa some cookies. In all of the excitement, we really forgot to take many pictures but here are some of my favorites that we did take!
Christmas PJs- Always the first present of Christmas (at home) and always opened Christmas Eve!
Hanging up her stocking Christmas Eve
Christmas Morning

I'll spare her the embarrassing shots of her actually taking the PJs off, which of course is what she did next. I guess she just looked so cute I forgot to take a picture of her fully dressed in her new Cinderella dress! Bad Mommy...

Our day was filled with much more excitement than that but unfortunately thats about all the pictures we have... We took videos but I don't have those all sorted out yet. Baby steps people...

Heres a fun Christmas story though. It is what could have been a Christmas disaster!!!
So, we kept asking Hannah (starting around Thanksgiving) what she wanted Santa to bring her. She would always get really excited and talk about what Santa does every Christmas Eve but she would never say what it was she wanted him to bring her, until Christmas Eve...
We were in her bedroom putting on her PJs that night when she said:
H: Santa is going to bring me a train!
Me: Oh, really?!?!
H: Yes, he is. He is going to bring me a pink train!
I was a little panicky at first because surely by 8:00 Christmas Eve night Santa's sleigh was packed and ready to go, right? Luckily, I had nothing to fear! This is what he had in his sleigh for Hannah and William:
I don't know if you can see it, but Rosie was one of the first first trains on the table and she happens to be pink. Man, that Santa! He is GOOD!
Now I just have to get Hannah to understand that Santa may need a little bit more warning in the future! ;)

Another William Weigh-In

William went for his 8 month weight-check this morning. He grew some more but still not a TON! He weighed in at 15lb 12oz which I was pretty pleased with. Thats up from 15.1 last month. Well, then they came back and said we had to strip him down to his skimmies and weigh him again. This time it was 15.8. Still not bad but not a huge amount of growth! Again, he grew in all 3 parameters (weight, length, and head circumference) ...but just a little bit.
After a thorough examination from the pediatrician, she gave us her diagnosis: lightening speed metabolism!
He is right on target developmentally and consumes a huge amount of calories. Apparently he just burns right through them. So our sweet doctor has traded in her worry for a little bit of envy!
The only thing left we have to worry about is our wallets when this kid hits puberty! ;)

I can honestly say I was never really worried about him. I knew deep down that he was healthy, but when our doctor wanted to see him every month I couldn't help but feel a tiny bit anxious...
But now, everyone involved feels confident that there is nothing wrong with our sweet little tyke! I mean really, does it look like William is worried??

Sweet, sweet William:
